Many of them, including those `disappeared' by the security forces are still missing. Under the terms of its ceasefire with the Maoists, the Nepali government has agreed to reveal their whereabouts.
Families of the disappeared have mounted a campaign to pressurise the government into launching an investigation. Kamala Bishwokarma last saw her husband, a Maoist sympathiser, in 2001.
